• Dolphin Browser: A really excelent browser which supports multitouch and gestures. So much better than the browser that comes with my HTC Hero. On the downside it doesn’t support flash like the built in browser.
• WeFi Automatic Wi-Fi: A really good application to find and connect to the WWi-Fi spots around you. Will show you which of the networks that require securitysettings, web-login or that are open.
• XBMC remote: A remote control application for xbmc on the android. This one is still Beta and won’t show up in market. But it works and it works good. Connect to your mediapc using the eventserver in xbmc and control your media from your phone. Browse your library, show what’s playing, set up your firewall so you can control your mediapc from anywhere as long as you are connected. It has a full featured remote with a clean and simple interface.
• Spotify: As long as you have a premium account, you can listen to your playlists in spotify on your android. Sync your playlists and listen to your music even if you’re not connected to the internet. No need to fill your phone with mp3’s anymore.
• Geologger: This application will track, log and save your GPS positions and then export the data to a gpx file on your phone. I use the application for geotagging of images as I love to spend my time taking pictures. There are other similar applications that do the same and also tags your photos taken by the camera, but I use this because it’s simple and straight forward. And I use my Nikon and not the camera in the phone when I’m out walking.
• Advanced Task Manager Free: With this application you can uninstall applications, kill processes and view system information.
• Barcode Scanner: One of the first applications I installed. It makes it easy installing new applications just by scanning the QR codes (as the ones shown at the end of this post). You can also use it to scan anything and looking it up on the internet. Out shopping books? Scan the barcode and find information about it on amazon or other sites.
• Meebo IM: I think this is the best IM application for android. Let’s you connect to AIM, MSN, ICQ, Facebook and a number of other services.
• K-9 Mail: The built in mailclient is OK, but the K-9 application is so much better. Save attachments, set up multiple IMAP accounts and much more.
• Listen: Podcastclient from Google. There are others, but I prefer this one. Stream the podcast if your online or download it for later listening.

This is just a short list of the many applications I’ve installed and use on my Hero and the list just gets longer. In my next post, I’ll have a list of applications specific for Norway, like Trafikanten and Gulesider.
